Varsity - Conroe Tournament Recap 2007
Panthers suffer two close losses on Saturday
 |
Two losses
this day showed how close the Panthers are, but also highlighted the
problem. The Panthers lost to Beaumont Kelly 53-50 after hitting only
41% of their 2s (14-34) and 21% of their 3s (4-19). Then they dropped a
61-51 decision to Conroe after shooting 35% from 2-point range (14-40)
and 20% from 3-point range (4-20). |
 |
What is
frustrating everyone - from Coach Martin on down to every Panther - is
that we're getting excellent shots. The 3s were mostly wide open and the
2s were mostly layups (24 for 62 in the key). Concentration and
confidence will solve this problem. |
 |
Hang in
there, Panthers! We have confidence that you'll get this straightened
out and be ready for district starting next week! Everyone is 0-0 and
the Panthers have a legitimate chance at the playoffs. Leadership
needed! |
 |
As for your
webmaster, I can only say that I'm very proud of you. After all the
frustrations of this day you found yourselves down by 20 against Conroe.
You didn't give up and made a contest of it. I think that says volumes
about the character of this team. I can't wait for Tomball!

Panthers split a pair on Friday, 12-28
 |
The Panther
somehow overcame spotting Macarthur 14 points, and a 33-16 halftime
deficit, with an inspiring 2nd half! The Panthers outscored the Generals
26-11 in the 3rd quarter and 20-12 in the 4th to claim a 62-56 victory!
Zach Price led the charge for the Panthers with a brilliant 26 point
performance! |
 |
The Panthers
couldn't overcome Atascocita's lead in the 2nd game, but they tried,
keeping the game competitive until the closing minutes before
surrendering 77-57. Special kudos to Chris Adams who led the Panthers in
scoring with 21 and rebounding (11) and for his three take charges! Also
to Marshond Stone who showed what real heart and hustle looks like with
his performance off the bench in the 2nd half. Efforts like that will
make the Panthers contenders in the 2nd half of the season! |
 |
The seeding
after the first day has the Panthers playing at 10:30 am on Saturday in
Conroe's Porter Gymnasium against - we think - Beaumont Kelly. Let's go
